Amy, all I can say is wow! I'm really glad these are in high-res on your blog, because a lot of the detail was lost in the ones you emailed me. Each of these is like a hundred works of art in one — like a little world of its own that you could get completely lost in if you get up close enough.
I guess that's what each of us are really… a messy world of memories, thoughts, emotions. With this work, I get a feeling of temporal things (earth, flesh and blood) somehow masking or hiding something much deeper — the soul or the spirit, which is trying to find and understand itself. It's very raw and very earthy.
Gosh, I'm gonna start sounding like a pretentious art critic (the kind I detest!) if I keep going on. I know the more important thing is the process of creation itself and you being able to express yourself through it. It's a very person thing and I thank you so much for sharing this with us.
